New land that was acquired last year has been cleared.
First by hand with a strimmer and chainsaw, removing bigger stumps and dead wood – clearing access for the tractor with forest-mulcher.
It took the tractor 4h for the first clearing – not too bad
This land is all below the big watertank and allows for irrigation from the established system by a simple add-on.
And additional 42 trees can be planted here, bringing the total number of new trees to 74.
A visit to the bamboo shows new growth – always a good sign:
Today the Clearing of new Land (about 3.5ha) has been finished
The Clearing itself took just two days with the backhoe
One Terrace will be planted to Walnuts, using a spacing of 10x10m, an additional 22 trees can be planted (using gravity irrigation).
The rest of the flatter land will be planted to chestnuts and almonds.
The banks will be planted to Robinias, Euodias, Saphora jap., Tilias spp., perennial Lupins, Rosmary, Lavender and a perennial bee-flower mix.
The land up the ridge will host the Araucaria-testplantation.
